Way back in 1997,

A 23-year-old American girl boldly boarded a Qantas flight in Los Angeles bound for new adventures on the other side of the world. The only images she had of Australia were formed from Crocodile Dundee, Muriel’s Wedding, and an unfinished 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle featuring the Opera House that lived on her family’s card table for months, and she was both excited and terrified to begin her new life.

Fast forward 25+ years, and that American girl has lived in Australia longer than she’s lived anywhere else…

In Australia, she got married (in a stylish novelty cork hat!). She gave birth to three children. She studied. She bought a house, bought a car, got a job. She started a business, got divorced, got more jobs, started more businesses. She lived in apartments, duplexes, and townhouses. Her children grew and went to school, then university.

And, over the years, as time went by, she realised she’d built a wonderful community, a cosy home, and a beautiful life in Australia.

That’s the origin story for Make a Move Australia. But not just that story, thousands like it being written every day, with brave people challenging themselves to live their dreams in a new place, with new friends, jobs, homes, traditions and cultures.

Their reasons - career, education, love, family, opportunity, quality of life - vary, but the experiences all have common threads, and we love hearing the stories of people who decide to pick Australia as their ‘chosen’ home.

Founded by Liz, that intrepid 23-year-old who is now a few years older and (hopefully) wiser (but who still occasionally wears a novelty cork hat!), Make a Move Australia aims to support, guide, advise and simplify your Australian relocation journey.

We are a professional, friendly team made up of both Australians by birth and Australians by choice, working together to make your Australian move easy and enjoyable.
